Executive Principal's Welcome

On behalf of the children, staff and governors of the Blessed Dominic Barberi Catholic Primary School, I welcome you to our website. Every aspect of school life is founded on Gospel Values. Our choice of Mission Statement:

Let Your Light Shine.

is at the heart of everything we do, guiding our pupils to recognise their God given gifts and use them to positively impact the world around them. We want every child to be able to see themselves within our curriculum and be driven to be transformed in faith; inspired with resilience; motivated through challenge; and empowered through possibilities.

Through a rich and inclusive learning experience, we strive to ensure that every child flourishes academically, spiritually and personally, developing the confidence and character needed to fulfil their potential. As Pope Leo reminds us, "Education is of the greatest importance in forming the character of the young and in shaping their sense of duty towards God and towards society."

This vision is reflected in our commitment to providing an education that nurtures both the mind and the heart, enabling children to become compassionate, responsible citizens who contribute positively to their communities. This commitment was recognised in our Catholic Schools Inspectorate Inspection in May 2026, where our school was judged to be Good in all areas. Inspectors recognised our "strong and authentic Catholic ethos, which permeates all aspects of school life and underpins the school's values and mission," as well as the "strong sense of community" that is evident throughout the school. Most importantly, the inspection highlighted that our school is a place "where every individual is known, valued and supported," reflecting the culture of care and belonging that lies at the heart of our community.

We firmly believe that our children deserve the very best opportunities in life and an inclusive education that enables all to achieve their God- given potential. As a one-form entry primary school in the heart of Ladywood, we are uniquely placed to know every child as an individual, celebrate their achievements and support them to flourish. I am privileged to lead a dedicated and talented team of staff whose commitment, care and professionalism ensure that our children remain at the centre of everything we do. Together, we look forward to the many opportunities, successes and moments of growth that this academic year will bring as we continue to live out our mission and encourage every member of our community to Let Your Light Shine.
